Indie Fund + Friends Now Backing Future Unfolding

The fall funding season is in full swing, with us first announcing this month that Spaces of Play's Future Unfolding is now receiving support from Indie Fund and friends. We feel the game already does a fantastic job of adding joy to its procedurally generated wild-life exploration and puzzle solving, with careful attention paid to its mix of beautiful and dangerous environments and creatures.

Previously, Spaces of Play created the magical-in-nature puzzler Spirits and is now ready to take on a bigger challenge. The team says Future Unfolding "is a much more experimental project with design questions that will be harder to solve for us. It is also a game that is much bigger in scope, both in terms of graphical and audio assets, as well as the amount of different player interactions that needs to be implemented."

Joining games such as Hack 'n' Slash, Spacebase DF-9, and Duskers, Future Unfolding was also made possible with the combined contributions of Indie Fund and friends, including here Aaron Isaksen (AppAbove Games), Jeffrey Rosen and John Graham (Wolfire, Humble Bundle), and Sarah and Colin Northway (Northway Games). Future Unfolding was already chosen for events such as the Media Indie Exchange and GDC Europe's Innovative Game Showcase, and the game will next be playable at Fantastic Arcade in Austin, September 18–21.

We wish Spaces of Play developers Mattias, Marek, and Andreas along with Swedish sound designers Nilsson + Carleberg all the best, as they work towards a 2015 release for Windows, Mac, Linux, and other to-be-announced platforms.
